What stays on your device

Plant journal records are saved in your browser’s local storage. Calculations and imported files are processed in your browser. We don’t upload your journal to a server and there is no account or cross-device sync. Shared-device users may be able to see these records.

Local data belongs to the website address where it was saved. Private browsing, clearing site data, or changing from a preview address to the final domain may make it unavailable. Use Export JSON backup to keep a backup and Import a backup to restore it. Dated observations, chosen checks and whole plant records can be deleted from the journal. You can also clear site storage through your browser.

Hosting and external links

Cloudflare delivers this website and may process standard request information, including IP addresses, for delivery and security. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy. Source links take you to other sites governed by their own policies.

Cloudflare may also use a performance beacon to measure page loading and website usage. Cloudflare describes this beacon as cookie-free and says it does not read browser storage such as your local plant journal. See Cloudflare’s performance data and privacy explanation. This hosting measurement is separate from Google advertising and is not controlled by the Google advertising choices below.

Advertising and cookies

Google advertising is currently disabled while account and site setup are pending. No Google advertising or consent script runs in this release. A publisher verification tag and ads.txt record let Google check ownership without running ad code. Google Analytics, IndoorJungle’s optional measurement integration and affiliate links are disabled. All calculators, search and finder workspaces, personal journal/results, downloads, print documents and legal/help pages are ad-free. Our fonts and images are self-hosted.

If advertising is enabled later, Google and other advertising partners may use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses and device or browser identifiers for advertising, fraud prevention and measurement. Third-party vendors, including Google, can use previous visits to this and other websites to select ads. Google’s advertising cookies can support personalized ads across participating sites, subject to applicable settings and consent. IndoorJungle does not pass your journal, entered measurements, plant names, notes, search terms, filenames or exported records to Google.

Other participating advertising companies offer choices through YourAdChoices. Those external settings do not replace this site’s regional consent choices; opting out of personalization does not necessarily remove all advertising.

Before any activation, the site owner must publish the applicable Google-managed regional messages and review actual advertising partners and placements. This preparation is not a claim of Google approval. The privacy page itself never loads Google advertising or its consent script; when advertising is active, the link below opens those controls on the eligible home page.

A separate browser preference can pause all Google advertising code on IndoorJungle. It is stored only as indoorjungle.ads-paused.v1 in this browser, separately from your journal. Pausing navigates to this ad-free page and prevents Google ad and consent code loading on future pages here. It does not delete Google’s cookies or change previously saved Google consent. Clearing site storage removes the pause preference along with other local data, so export your journal first. Browser cookie controls can also remove cookies.

Optional measurement

Google Analytics and IndoorJungle’s optional measurement integration remain disabled. Prepared measurement hooks use fixed page/tool names only; they exclude private notes, measurements, results, raw URLs, search text, record IDs, filenames and persistent user identifiers. No collector is connected to those optional measurement hooks. Cloudflare hosting performance measurement is described above. Core calculators and the journal remain free.

Your calculations and downloads

Measurements, search terms, plant names and notes are processed in your browser. Tool-to-journal links use a URL fragment, which browsers do not send as part of the server request. Downloaded HTML, JSON and calendar (.ics) files remain wherever you save them; keep personal backups off shared devices if you do not want others to read them. Calendar files include plant names, room labels and chosen tasks, but omit private journal notes. If you import a file into a calendar service, that service receives the included event details under its own privacy policy. IndoorJungle does not connect to or synchronize with it. Edit or remove imported calendar copies separately.

For privacy questions, contact IndoorJungle at kout@me.com. Sending email opens your chosen mail service and shares the information you include with our support inbox. Please include only what is needed for your question.

Export your journal before removing records or clearing this site’s browser storage. Clearing local storage removes the local copy; separately delete any backups you no longer want. There is no account profile or cloud journal to delete.

Use and limitations

Calculator results are estimates based on your inputs. Plant advice is general information with linked sources. It cannot identify a plant or replace case-specific horticultural or veterinary advice. Editorial imagery is labelled and is not botanical evidence.
